Removing a status from a mark up?

is there any way to remove or undo a status that was set to a markup?
I have the status set at complete with has its own colour set, but I want to remove the status to the markup so it goes back to it's original setting (no status) and colour.

Can you set up an original "working" status that has the original colours?
