Editing a Scanned Document (OCR)
« on: July 26, 2017, 07:23:34 AM »

How does one go about editing text for a scanned document after running OCR?  Like if I want to insert a whole sentence into a paragraph how I do that so the rest of the document wraps around properly like it would if it was in a word editor program.  I've been told this is possible in Adobe so I have a hard time believing it can't be done in BlueBeam.  But searching Google has only shown me that OCR will make a PDF searchable and "selectable".  What about editable?

Thanks in advance, and thank you for creating a forum after BlueBeam closed theirs  >:(

I don't think that is possible - even in Adobe products.  But someone correct me if I am wrong.  After OCR texts becomes "selectable and searchable" but you can't edit.  That would defeat the whole purpose of PDF documents.  For example, if a contractor sent out specs for a project, they wouldn't want you to be able to actually change the ORIGINAL CONTENT and then send it on to a sub.

Found this online - might be some help.  Also, it does seem Adobe allows editing / flow.  Hmmmm....

You indeed can edit the text in a PDF.  It does need to be proper text though and not geometry that looks like text.  Meaning you have to run the OCR on the PDF (which requires Revu eXtreme).  On the EDIT menu you'll find a Content button, off of that you can find the "Edit Text" command.
