Select objects under another

Is there some type of TAB + Select, in order to select objects that are under others? this is driving me crazy, I have a lot of objects and layers in this PDF and I cannot select items underneath another object, unless I change the order. When I do that, it effects other things so I want to avoid that if I can.

None that I know of. The only real solutions are changing the order or toggling the layers on and off.
