Customizing size of page number "symbol" (indicator) in toolbar

Hi,
is there a way to reduce size of "symbol" (indication) for page number in toolbar resp. navigation bar? Currently it is very large although only a small part is needed. I ask for this because I want to put all my symbols in two bars, one at the top and one at the right) and hide all other ones.
